Two 28-foot giant arrows stand buried deep in the Arizona desert dirt along an abandoned stretch of Route 66.
Back in the 1950s, the Canyon Padre Trading Post planted these massive telephone-pole arrows to force cross-country drivers to slam on their brakes. It became a booming diner, gas station, and souvenir shop... until Interstate 40 bypassed it overnight. The trading post was abandoned in 1995, and in 2022, one of the original giant arrows collapsed into the sand.
